I hate to sound like a stiff but I keep seeing riders making stupid decisions while riding.
-I constantly see people taking up a lane when a bicycle lane is readily available. Southern Orange County is one of the best places to ride and there are bike lanes on nearly every street. They're humongous too. Why would you want to share a lane with speeding cars anyway?
-If you're going straight and the right lane is only for right turns, stay on the lane going straight. Don't piss off the driver behind you for no reason.
-For double left turn lanes, stick to the right one so you can end up on the furthermost right lane when you finish the turn.
-Keep gaps closed if the ride has a no-drop policy. Otherwise.. you drop people at lights. Zuh.
-Cars are bigger than you. They hurt. Don't piss off the driver. If their brain is small enough, they might get tempted to say hello with their bumper. Stick to the higher ground and allow them the benefit of the doubt. If you wish to confront them and educate them, speak with civility, not with curses.
-Bring lights if it's a night ride. It's not only for cars to see you.
-Call out potholes and cars.
-Learn how to skid before you come out to a ride. No one likes to get rear-ended or run over.
-Hold your line. Zig zag and you could clip an unaware rider behind you.
-Call out if you need help otherwise you'll get dropped too.
-Check your gear BEFORE the ride.
MASH RESPONSIBLY.
Thank you.
