he went to the doctor and they mentioned possibly having a gearing thats easier on your joints. I know you ride a big gear.
You ride a bigger gear than me, and i thought mine was pretty high lol.
honestly, i would advise you to stay off of it the best you can until the pain calms down more.

most of the leaders are aluminum, i've seen a carbon leader roadie, and they just made a lugged steel frame recently.

if you're on a budget and you just want a cheap ass aluminum frame to get you going, then go for it. the frames themselves are cheap, but shit adds up once you buy the headset and fork.
i had an '09 735tr, it was decent, i had haters but i dgaf, i rode it everyday, never made any noise for me. I dont do tricks. Most people will say otherwise if they had a bad experience with leader. Mine personally didn't make a sound.

you dont really need a tensioner on both sides.
you can easily line up the non-drive side and drive side yourself.
all the tensioner is there to do is help you get the proper tension on the chain without worrying about the axle moving while you tighten the nuts

the "etching" is not going to ruin the frame.
frames are built to withstand constant flex while you ride.
a little etched letter is not going to put him in danger

maybe some 'kids' feel better about the fact they have a "njs" part, or an "expensive" part on their bike. While the original post DOES makes alot of sense. Yea they shouldn't be buying expensive parts and putting them on old road frames, having little parts that are worth more than the actual frame, like you said, Toshi Doubles. As much as we may not like it, its gona keep happening regardless. Just so they have something they can brag about.
I'm not one to take sides, just speaking on it in general. Even though i'd like to see less of it as well as you would, there is still no reason to make fun of anyone's bike just because they built it the way they like it. Maybe it would relieve some tension if they weren't so busy talking highly of their bikes like they're shrines.
