Tricks!!! and Trick Tips...
...has anyone put a bmx or downhill stem on their track bike? if so how is it or did it work out?

I have a 50mm 4x stem on my retard bike, I run 31.8 mountain bike riser bars and I like it just fine, I bought a frame with a longer top tube to make up for the short stem so it is still very comfortable. I have a friend who built a "trick" bike with too small of a frame and a short downhill stem and it's so cramped he doesn't even ride it.
Depending on your fork/headtube size you can run a bmx stem but you will need to run bmx bars or bars for a 22.2mm clamp. A nice downhill or 4x stem is usually a lot lighter than a bmx stem especially with aluminum mountain bike risers over cromoly bmx bars. Hope that helps
I'm ordering some 29'r mtb disc(brake) rims to build a wheelset for my bike so they are stronger and so I can run 700/35 or bigger cross tires and make my bike even more awesome/retarded.
The sound of track bikes doing tricks hurts me. That crashing "Ding" sound, yikes. So unnatural.

if you have never been there, the concrete is a little rough but there is a lot of space, banks, wallrides, little obstacles. There is shade from the talbert/macarthur overpass. I'm bringing a broom, a little radio, some water, my fixed gear, my hardtail, and my skateboard, and i'm gonna be sucking big time on all three. Come on down if that sounds fun (ha) and bring whatever mode of transportation/fun you want. Not a ride, no free food, it's going to be really shitty and probably a bust. You should probably just stay at home. Just feeling this out to see if anyone else wants to meet up maybe once or twice a month at different places and have fun. I will bring the hacky sack for all you closet hippys.
