i would higly suggest on not getting the h + son wheels, i laced mine up today and they were the sketchiest thing ive ever riden, i could almost bend the sidewall with my finger that how thin they were. I mean if your just going to ride straight and not whip skid at all or do tricks then u might be fine but i suggest otherwise, they are way to expensive for what u get. In other words i got velocity fusions and i have to say one of the best wheels i have ever ridden, very strong like the deep v but lighter and my low profile. Its up to you what wheel u like but when buying wheels think of the weight that comes into play and the strength of the wheel. Dont just buy it cause its cool looking,i mean u might be the talk of the town with the coolest wheels, but being in a hospital because your wheel broke is not cool.

i didnt want to join a bunch of forums defending my product. but i think new fixed gear riders lack a general understanding of road rims.
first off the weighht of a deep v 700c is not 530 grams like it says on the website. do some real research or weigh it on a scale. It is closer to something like 580.
If your wheel is bending it is probably because you arnt tensioning the spokes enough. the extra 12 mm and the 400+ mpa alloy makes for a very stiff rim. I DO NOT USE the much cheaper 6061 alloy you find on velocity.
12mm is a huge difference as far as aero performance is concerned.

If you get a chance to, please touch the sidewall of a carbon fiber deep profile rim. They flex like crazy, but that does not mean it isnt stiff.
The thin side wall is for reducing weight and is actually the hardest part of making the rim. to build a heavy rim with a thick sidewall is a very easy task.
in the next few months i will be coming out witth a 680 gram formation face rim for kids that want to do tricks on them. Also there will be a 30mm high 540 gram formation face rim as well.
it is a peice of cake. you dont even have to machine the sidewalls to lighten the rim.

the original formation face rim wasnt made for tricking in mind. they were designed for speed. And for road riding and normal curb jumping they are more than enough.

Keo and tom are both testing out my heavier tricking rim right now.
the the macaframa team will be ridng the rims soon.
MASH crew have also given them a positive review.
No money was exchanged for their endorsement.

sorry for the lack of punctuation and caps. im typing on an italian computer right now.

please read the review on page 3 from a roadie that has been building wheels for many years.

lastly i want to add. 580 grams is crazy light for a 42mm high alloy rim. you dont even want to know what campy shamals or even atlanta weigh.

Tsu,

I have finally assembled the wheels and I am having ZERO issues. At the same time I am not bar-spinning or jumping off curbs. I do ride wearing heels though, so maybe I am a cross-dresser if that makes a difference. I think god wanted me to have a penis and a vagina.

Get off this site, I told you that you were wasting your time here. You ought have mentioned your families role in the wheel manufacturing business.

Actually forget it.

@tzusing: Thanks for taking the time to join the forum and address the concerns that some of our members had with the H+ Son product. My apologies (and to you as well smash) for the juvenile replies, they have been dealt with.

Here's an idea that I would like to run by you...

Would it be possible to maybe send us a set of rims for us to review? I will have them built up and share them with several of the more serious riders for a thorough review, which will be posted in a new thread.

Let me know what you think.

that's a good idea huph.

after all that bad rap the rims got i ended up selling my hoops without ever building them up, but now reading all the positive reviews and what tzusing said i wish i didn't. so i'll probably be ordering another set soon.

it easy to lace a wheel but truing is different. so some people cant do both. also its hard to tru without a truing stand or knowing how to properly use your chain stays as a truing stand.

i have have just put through my first order for H Plus Son Wheels, and i am stoked to get them. We ordered a large amount because i consider them to be a great new addition to all things fixed and track based. When we get them build up i will gladly share more insight and considering i am here in Newport, anybody close can come by and take a look at them.

cheers
