52/17
What gearing do you rock?
48/15 is the goods... you just need to man up... little man.-babybell
true.
& a side note...
I got my bike on Halloween of this year sooooo...
on the 31st
it will be 2 months
of 120+ miles per week
on a fixed gear bike.
I'm currently riding a 48/16, up from the stock 42/16 my bike came with. I have a Miche 17t coming "sometime" I ordered it forever ago but they've been back ordered for an eternity. I think I'll be really happy with 48/17

the reason that there is a lot more of a diff between one tooth change on the cog and one on the chainring is one tooth change on the cog is equal to three teeth changes on the chainring. so if you want a little change then change the chainring. if you do a change of three teeth on the chainring, then you can just go one tooth on the cog instead.
what is the best ratio for mashing down hills?
i have 46/17 now
and thinking of gettin 48/17
yeah, i thought about that, but i didn't want to have to change the rear cog because i don't know how to and my LBS would probably charge me like $25 just because i am a kid. maybe i'll just call my cousin.-fixxed4life
I get it done at sand canyon cyclery for free and im a minor
anyone got higher than 52x15 ? cuz I get alot of shit for my massive ratio. Actually i just get alot of shit in general :)

all gearing is good downhill...work on your slowing down and stopping when taking on a hill, learn control.
The higher your chainring and the lower your cog the harder its gonna be to stop.
50/17....moving to 49/17
ok would something like a 48/16 be good
i see those guys in the mash sf videos and they make it loook so easy

Get over idolizing the SF scene...i run a 46/16 its a total commuter gearing...easy start ups from dead stops, easy to stop/slow, super easy to skid. Read the previous posts Babybell suggests 48/15.
49/15
or for fun days 53/19
what works for one person wont be perfect for everybody. try some stuff out and see what you like. my brother and i rode road bikes years ago and we always disagreed on gearing.

If you wanna be like the guys on MashSF Id say get more experience/miles rather than worrying about having the perfect gearing.

LMAO!!!! dont hurt yourself buddy.
i wanna crank harder and go faster.. i have a 42/16
should i bump up my chainring or my cog?
