i personally think 46/16 is a pretty good all around gear ratio.
but if you have scrawny legs you can go with the all mighty 46/17 :)
What gearing do you rock?
i want to go 48/17 i love that gear ratio
im running a 52/17, its not that bad up hills. im used to it
a lot of people run 48/17 on here.
i actually found it 7 times lol
is there a reason for that?
not sure of the reason... but its smaller than a 52/17 which is basically a perfect 3-to-1 gear ratio with 17 skid patches.
perfect for me, top speed, low end leverage, and down hills are nice. uphills arent too bad either
I'm quite pleased with 48/17, although I like 44/16 too. Right now I'm on 48/17.
46/16 good for long riding and sitdown skids .... when i get a fixed fixed hub im gunna run 46/16 and 46/17 on the other side just to try it out
Onroad torture device: 49/16 or a little taller depending.
Offroad torture device: 32/22 for fast climbs.
i concur :)
i love hills too <3
Jackie knows ;)
so..umm.... my curbside came with 39/16 . . . . its mental!! I commute through Newport Back bay everyday and its NO BUENO... anybody wanna give me a good number for that area.
Wow, that's an incredibly low ratio.. I think for that area, and many places around Orange County (like Daniel said above) aim for low to mid 70s for gear inches. Which means you'll probably have to buy a new chainring. :(
are all bolt patterns on the cranks the same? like can i get a sugino ring and it will just bolt up to my crank arms? If thats the case..... anyone got a good size ring for sale?
no, all the bolt patters are not the same.
the BCD can range anywhere from 100BCD to 144BCD
i think some of the old school vintage chainrings have smaller bolt patterns than that
just changed it up to 44/15. 79.2 gear inches, 15 skid patches- im diggin it
